Hi! Thank you for taking the time to be part of Connecting Creatives. Can you tell us more about your background and how you got started on your business journey?
After 10 years of managing various homeless shelters and group homes for foster youth, I designed a retreat program for a startup non-profit organization serving emancipated youth, and campNcater was born. In the years to follow, I expanded into serving various church ministries and youth programs through custom tailored outdoor fundraising events. Today, we own our own campground and amphitheater in which we continue to raise funds and bring awareness to a variety of charitable causes in the community.
What keeps you engaged and passionate about your small business?
After 10 years of chasing a dream of doing what I love for a living, I know that I am here for a reason. My life’s mission statement is to live this life in confidence in the Lord that I am being used on a daily basis to do His work. With so many needs throughout the community, and amazing organizations to partner with, there are endless opportunities to network and collaborate on fundraising initiatives. Moreso, the creation of the campNcater Tribe has encouraged forward momentum and a greater sense of purpose within our mission.
If you could give advice to your younger business self what would it be?
With no regrets, I would remind myself not to give up on the things that make me happy. I would encourage a greater sense of patience and confidence, as hard work does pay off in the long run. Lastly, I would remind myself to maintain my audacious faith in believing that anything is possible.
What is a challenge you have faced as a small business and how have you overcome it?
With such a unique and niche business model, presenting the mission and the concept of campNcater has been challenging. However, the endurance and perseverance for the last decade has created the right amount of awareness at the right time and place. I have been able to overcome this challenge through the support of my Tribe.
With over 2,000 volunteer hours within the last year on our newly developed “Cove” campground and amphitheater, we are experiencing an abundance of organic growth within our community. We are continually reaping the rewards of our guests’ testimonies as they continue to invite their friends and family to participate in our mission. Participating in a campNcater event is what truly encompasses all that we have to offer.
What do you want people to take away from your small business?
More than anything, I want people to leave campNcater feeling connected. Connected to themselves, to their community, and to the world we live in. Our primary mission is to fundraise and bring awareness to the endless charitable causes in need of our support.
Whether it be a recipient of a donation, a Tribe member, a first-time camper, or an artist, our goal is for everyone to feel a sense of purpose through their own unique contributions. We find great joy in providing the opportunity for others to give back through their love and dedication.
What is the next milestone for you?
Due to COVID, we have had the wonderful opportunity to pivot and venture into the virtual realm of live events. On a micro level, our next milestone is developing our livestream platform for the up and coming launch of campNcast; our digital fundraising outlet. In the big picture, our next milestone is truly making a difference and raising the monies that we were designed to raise.
Now that we have acclimated to our newfound home in Twentynine Palms, CA, we are committed to fulfilling our philanthropic mission and taking it to the next level. We look forward to collaborating with our current and prospective power house community partners consisting of charitable organizations, production crews, musicians, artists, the list goes on!
